Sleepwalking (2014) is a video achieved by deleting all the information of the opening credits of Douglas Sirk’s film Imitation of Life (1959). Frame by frame, title and names are painstakingly erased and seamlessly replaced with the image they where covering. In this way, a new film is achieved, independent from its original source. A new soundtrack also reinforces this transformation, creating a hypnotic dreamlike feeling. The beauty of the diamonds takes on a new meaning as it becomes clear that they are filling the entire screen and in this way burying the viewer. The film questions our desires for beauty, wealth and material values.
